Jacob Miller
Deputy Director of U.S. Policy and Programs
Jacob Miller is Deputy Director of U.S. Policy and Programs at SSC, where he manages the Cities for Smart Surfaces Program. Jacob has a background in materials science, policy research, journalism, and community organizing. With SSC, he supports municipal staff and community organizations in their efforts to implement vegetated, permeable, and solar reflective surfaces for a more resilient urban environment.
Jacob brings a multidisciplinary background to the team — prior to joining SSC, Jacob was the Managing Editor of Pricing Nature, a Yale Center for Business and the Environment research initiative and podcast about carbon pricing, and conducted research on novel semiconductor materials at Yale’s Energy Sciences Institute.
He is a Certified Energy Manager and holds a B.S. in Applied Physics with a certificate in Energy Studies from Yale University.
