Hassan Ragy is a Senior Data Analyst at the Smart Surfaces Coalition, where he leads analytic and data management workstreams supporting the Coalition’s core platforms, including the Benefit-Cost Analysis Tool (BCAT) and Decision Support Tool (DST). His work integrates spatial, environmental, and economic data to help cities evaluate the performance and benefits of Smart Surfaces in advancing urban resilience, equity, and sustainability.
Before joining SSC, Hassan worked at Cornell University’s Climate Jobs Institute, where he led geospatial analyses to inform workforce-centered energy transition policies. Previously, as GIS Systems Architect at BlueWave, he developed automated spatial data infrastructure and introduced a flood risk assessment protocol to support community-scale solar projects across the Northeast.
Hassan holds a B.A. in Geography from Vassar College and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Urban Sustainability at the City College of New York. His academic research examines the intersections of social and environmental systems, with projects spanning agricultural resilience to climate extremes in West Africa, biodiversity conservation in the US under changing climate conditions, and the geopolitics of transboundary water infrastructure in the Nile Basin.
