Sam Sands: Quantifying the Relationship between Ambient Temperature and Electricity Demand
Sam Sands is a senior Morehead Cain Scholar at University of North Carolina and interned with the Coalition in the Summer of 2021. During his internship, Sam was the lead author on a report that quantifies the relationship between ambient temperature and electricity demand. The methodology presented in this report demonstrates that Smart Surfaces, by cooling cities several degrees, can cut air conditioning demand, thereby cutting energy bills and lowering emissions.
