The Smart Surfaces Coalition sponsors, supports and collaborates with its partners on developing innovative, high-impact government and market strategies to accelerate smart surfaces adoption more than tenfold. One important project, sponsored by the Coalition, is Global Cool Cities Alliance’s Cool Roadways Partnership.

The Smart Surfaces Coalition has been supporting Smart Surfaces Coalition partner GCCA to help expand smart, reflective road resurfacing in US cities. The Smart Surfaces Coalition provided seed funding in 2019 to GCCA to support a Los Angeles Cool Pavements Workshop for sustainability and public works officials. The workshop included leaders from nine cities, working together to lay the foundation for the Cool Roadways Partnership, which now includes the following 20 city participants
