Sam Sands
Research Analyst
Sam is an analyst for the Smart Surfaces Coalition where his work involves designing, planing, and measuring the financial cost and benefits of transforming cities into linear urban forests alongside the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His work also includes researching the effectiveness of city policies and developing a policy toolkit to promote smart surfaces among cities and their mayors.
A Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Sam will graduate in 2022 with majors in Business Administration and History, accompanied by a PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics) minor. Sam is also the Vice President of the UNC Men’s Crew team.
Sam is extremely thankful for the opportunity to work, connect, and learn with Smart Surface Coalition’s Steering Committee, Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and staff. Through his work at the Coalition, Sam hopes to combine his knowledge of business and history with his passion for the environment in order to transform how people see the interconnected world around them, starting with our cities.
