Pro Bono Service Partners

Global Pro Bono Service PArtners

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, has adopted the Smart Surfaces Coalition for pro bono support. This partnership represents a natural extension from Dentons’ Smart Cities and Connected Communities Initiative and Think Tank.

The lead partner at Dentons supporting the Smart Surfaces Coalition is Simon Steel. Simon participates in the firm’s Energy, Litigation and Federal Regulatory practices. A former US Supreme Court clerk, Simon has extensive experience representing clients in federal appellate, constitutional, regulatory, environmental, antitrust and intellectual property litigation. Earlier in his career, he served for three years as Special Counsel for Global Competition at the Federal Trade Commission and was an adjunct law professor at Cambridge University. Simon devotes substantial time to pro bono matters and has published articles on a wide range of legal topics, including natural resource damages and the National Environmental Policy Act.

The Smart Surfaces Coalition greatly appreciates the commitment from Simon and Dentons to support the Coalition and is looking forward to working with Dentons to support and promote the rapid adoption of smart surfaces by cities around the world.
